If you have downloaded one of the Unicode fonts such as SIL Gentium, SIL Doulos or Titus Cyberbit, installed them in your fonts file, and are having trouble viewing the texts in the OTAP archive, you should know the following:
Internet Explorer and Netscape for the MAC do not display the Unicode fonts.
Safari, a native Unicode browser, comes standard with OS/X. Another browser called OmniWeb can be obtained free from http://www.omnigroup.com (see the instructions below) or you can also pay for it if you want technical support. So far as our testing shows, Unicode fonts work only with OS/X. If you are using OS 9, you must upgrade to OS/X 10.2 in order to use the Unicode fonts. You do not need to download any extra Unicode fonts to use OmniWeb in its Internationalized (4.1) version.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD OMNI WEB
The lack of Unicode font support for commonly used word processors will not affect MAC users who want to contribute texts to the archive. If you have texts (even one or two short documents) that you wish to contribute, please contact us for instructions.
Many thanks to Victor Ostapchuk for bringing this problem to our attention. We urge you to inform us of any problems you encounter and welcome your feedback. If any MAC users have suggestions or solutions that would be helpful to others, we would be glad to pass them on.
Best wishes,
Walter
